Frustrated by a recurring problem during his frequent travels, Alexis decided to find a way to eliminate time consuming pre-travel location research. The new service would instantly highlight the most interesting areas in any city.
Several months went into researching and prototyping during 2011. In early 2012 Alexis decided that AVUXI would be his new full-time project. A few months later he met Roberto, who had been working with Geospatial technologies for several years.
Finding the right business fit
After testing out several markets and producing cool new demos, AVUXI got selected for acceleration at Startupbootcamp Berlin.
The acceleration program was sponsored by Daimler, Bosch and HDI. In addition to great mentorship and contacts, it helped AVUXI to gain a better vision of the market, improve marketing strategies, and set business priorities.
The beginning of the year went on developing the product to significantly expand its coverage and scalability. Limited trials were started with a few selected customers. In March AVUXI was reviewed and selected for an investment by Telefónica’s acceleration unit Wayra. Gaining access to a major telco’s data would further enhance AVUXI’s value offering.
Achieving accurate global coverage across several categories has been a major milestone, favourably differentiating AVUXI from existing solutions.
